If you get FTTB at your show. Make sure to get there really really early. I think 60 people are invited plus guest. So be there if you want a rail spot.
Iron Maiden and Dream Theater at Cricket Pavilion June 17
Dream Theater: 01.As I AM 02.A Rite of Passage 03.Home 04.Constant Motion 05.Panic Attack 06.Pull Me Under
First time seeing Dream Theater and they really were great. I am for sure going to go to headlining tour by them. Crowd was really into them and they got us warmed up nicely for Maiden.
Iron Maiden: 01.The Wicker Man 02.The Ghost of the Navigator 03.Wrathchild 04.El Dorado 05.Dance of Death 06.The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg 07.These Colours Don't Run 08.Blood Brothers 09.Wildest Dreams 10.No More lies 11.Brave New World 12.Fear of the Dark 13.Iron Maiden Encore: 14.Number of the Beast 15.Hallowed Be Thy Name 16.Running Free
Maiden was pure awesome.Wicker Man is a great opener. Most people new the song. The Ghost of the Navigator was amazing live but the crowd was losing interest, it is sad that a lot of American fans don't realize this band has released 3 recent albums which are all solid records, but such is life I suppose. The PA went out in the middle of Wrathchild which pissed off a lot of people but it quickly came back on. Sound was a problem early on as Bruce's mic was fading in and out but was fixed towards the end of the set.
El Dorado sounds much better live and the crowd was into it. Dance of Death was amazing live, you can tell the band really enjoys playing these other songs, again the crowd sat on their hands though. Breeg, Colours and Blood Brothers were all great. The crowd got involved during Blood Brothers. You could tell there were some perplexed fans though as their was a lot of talking around me which truly pissed me off. Wildest Dreams, despite being not my favorite song was still great live, No More Lies was good as well, the crowd got involved for that one. Brave New World seemed to wake them up again. The end of the set and the encore made everyone happy though.
All in all it was a great night. Both bands were tight and the sound was decent for both. A little grumbling from fans about the set list after the show, "No Run To The Hills, No Aces High." My answer to them is that they should have saw the band 2 years ago and they would be happy. This tour isn't for every Maiden fan, Maiden plays what they want to play and you have to respect them for that. It was a great set list to me and flowed very well but of course I knew every word so it would be different for someone else. But in the end it was a fun night.
