Quakes are much better than storms.

If you aren't near buildings, quakes are harmless. A tornado however will run your ass down. I think hurricanes take the cake though.

How about a hurricane the magnitude of Katrina. I'm sure since they go through quite a few a year its not that big of a deal, but when the big one comes, it comes hard.

we've been getting remnants of the baja california fault.... but just sporadic ones, and none bigger than 4.0

Well the reason I say I'll take a hurricane over a tornado is you have a ton of time to prepare and get away. A tornado warning comes minutes before it hits and you just hide and hope it doesn't land on you. You never know what they are going to do either

like once when I was visiting my grandparents a tornado came leveled the house next to us lifted then came back down on the house on the other side.

I didn't think of it that way either. Like last night we were expecting a huge storm from Chicago. We went from Tornado watch, to thunderstorm warning...he said we were safe for the night...then boom Tornado warning. What really sucked was the weather guy would say "I think Wood County is safe," and that made me take a breath of relief...and then he said, "except the extreme northern parts." Now I am as far up in Wood County as possible, I walk a quarter mile and I'm in Lucas County. So yeah needless to say, he was right about the northest part.
