it's pretty gay. especially considering that neurosis cut their teeth playing gilman and most of their early tours were with hardcore groups like coalesce. people that are close-minded like that are a plague upon us. especially considering that it's a band like bl'ast, not just some born yesterday scene bullshit. these hipster brats are ruining sludge

Granted I haven't been listening to hardcore very long, but I feel like half of Bl'ast's fans are hipsters hopping on the bandwagon because they're yet another reunited band that reunites out of nowhere then everybody is a fan apparently. I'd never heard one word about them then all of a sudden everybody is stoked for Bl'ast.

personally I didnt like them much but it was cool to see nick on stage and not shooting up.
as far as the reaction I think theres a big disconnect with modern sludge, doom, etc fans about the origins. neurosis is one of the scene's longest standing bands but they were once 'pain of mind' neurosis as well. but in the end, I think the choice to put bl'ast on the ticket was an interesting, given that they somehow felt it would bring the hipster neurosis fans out of hibernation.

No doubt the QOTSA connection didn't hurt. Fuck those people regardless. The few times I've been in a position to watch a band that others found legendary, I stuck around to see what they were about. Like I've never gotten into Bauhaus, but I watched them when they opened for Nine Inch Nails. Still didn't really get it, but at least I have them a shot. What sucks is seeing people do what happened at Alex's show, especially in the quantities he describes. Neurosis always take good care to bring good bands out on your with them. Personally, I hate bills where it's all just one type of group, especially of something slow. Last time I saw Neurosis, they had Primate on the bill to help break up the dirge. I dunno, I just see a lot of jackasses at shows now that don't respect the culture. Neurosis and Bl'ast don't sound much alike now, but they both came from the same gutter. The idea that some fags are at those shows being like "Ew hardcore grrossss!" makes me wish they'd all catch Ebola walking to the smoking section
seeing Motley Crue on the 9th... not super excited but my best friend is a huge crue and cooper fan... I dig old crue fa sho, but Neil's vox are horrid now that he's like 80 years old... lots a drunk cougars there though.....

Same dude. I'll catch ya in the pit. Unless you're one of those people that likes sitting away from the action. Either way, most likely see you there!

Also, plenty of hardcore kids dipped after Bl'ast, so it goes both ways.
I most likely wont be in pit. But see you there. I have lobg hair, a beard, and will be wearing a black shirt.
