You say "those who saw him play" well I saw Barry play, More than you I'm willing to bet. I don't deny that he was a great player because he for sure was but that doesn't change the fact that he quit.

and how many games have you watched total of the lions.....i have watched every lions game for the entire span of my 22 years....and got to see barry in person...was amazing

Barry's retirement was absolutely unexpected. He faxed a letter to a Wichita newspaper announcing it. I don't ever recall him asking for a trade.

" I'm merely saying that your basis of not considering him as one of the greatest because he played for a cancerous franchise and quit is not fair."

I've said again and again that Barry Sanders was great. What I've typed a few times is that he is a quitter.

and Rex. That comment was to JL because I know hes a lot younger than me and I don't know how old you are. I saw many Lions games with Barry Sanders.

I woke up this morning to see a post on Crustcake celebrating the news that Triptykon will tour with 1349 and Yakuza later this year — and that said tour will include a handful of U.S. dates. This would obviously be a terrific tour — Eparistera Daimones is still one of the best albums of 2010.

The only thing is — and I don’t mean to cast dispersions on Crustcake, a site I love — I’m not sure where the heck this info is coming from. As I write this, we haven’t received any press release here at the MetalSucks Mansion, I haven’t seen the news reported anywhere else, and the MySpace pages for Triptykon, 1349, and Yakuza all lack the American tour dates in question.

So did Crustcake get an inside scoop? It’s entirely possible. We’ll wait (and pray!) for official confirmation from the band before we get too excited… but in the meantime, here are the dates Crustcake is reporting:

    08/14/10 Jalometalli Festival Oulu, FI
08/19/10 Summer Breeze Open Air Dinkelsbühl, GERMANY
08/28/10 Hole In The Sky Festival Bergen, NO
    09/17/10 The Romandie Lausanne, SWITZERLAND
    10/07/10 Kyttaro Live Athens, GREECE
    10/07/10 Middle East Cambridge, MA
    10/08/10 Gramercy TheatreNew York, NY
    10/15/10 Majestic TheatreDetroit, MI
    10/16/10 Bottom Lounge Chicago, IL
10/17/10 Station 4 Saint Paul, MN
10/24/10 El Rey Theatre Los Angeles, CA
    10/29/10 Emos Austin Austin, TX

I would go to the Triptykon tour solely for Yakuza. One of the most superb albums this year.

    I'd go for 1349.

    Attn: Triptykon fans.

Check your large club venue websites, they may have Triptykon listed.

Triptykon @ Slim's on October 23rd for my SF bros.

They've got to spend 5 days between LA and Austin. I think you guys could get lucky.

I sure as hell hope so. And large club venues? As in the 400 person type ones?

They're playing Slim's here, which I'd say is somewhere between 300-400.

Yeah I just looked up their live footage.

Looks like it'll be at Marquee. I could have sworn this would be a smaller-club tour too..
