No substance?
You're the guy who admits he likes bands with a consistent formula, that's lacking substance. Something that lacks substance is something without admirable value, or depletes that value from itself with repeated listens, ie deathcore. Iron Maiden are not without substance. Iron Maiden are the best metal band in history because of their consistency, ingenuity and exuberance, all at an old age. Granted, it's not wise to listen to nothing but Iron Maiden. That would make you one dimensional, and in the end, a boring music listener. However, very very few bands had a seven album streak as unfuckwithable as Iron Maiden's first seven. I challenge you to name one. It's not even as if those albums were at all similar. The harsh punk sound of the Di'Anno era, along with the melodic operatic tunes of Beast-Powerslave, but best of all is the progressive thump that makes up Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son. Even discounting all of that, there is little evidence to the claim that Iron Maiden aren't the same anymore. Releasing four albums since the reunion of the classic lineup that have been heralded as modern classics of metal, with one highly debated to be their best of all time. I'm not going to claim that it makes sense to listen to nothing but Maiden, but to say that they are a bad band, or at least are not worthy of your respect is absolutely ludicrous.
Question: does anyone think slayer will do a proper WPB tour? Just picked up a hard copy of the extended Reign in Blood and I'm dying to see them again

If I wanted Substance in my music I wouldn't listen to Waka Flocka Flame.
Substance is enjoyability to me, which I guess is the root difference.
I just really like songs with a good rhythm and good bass, which is why I like -core and some rap, but I still listen to non-core genres just as much. Any sort of substance or technicality is just a plus for me.
