I switch off, but he's a big baby. He never strikes at me, if I scare him, he hides his head and coils back. But there really aren't aggressive snakes. If they're always fed live prey in their cage, and never handled (Pretty much like a wild snake.) then yes, it will be aggressive towards Humans. But there's no mean Snake. Because they don't grow trust or companionship in their owners, like sayyy, a Dog does.
Lemme ask though, when did you get bit? Like after he ate, or...?
You had a Corn Snake though right? Corn Snakes are nippy by nature pretty much. Or "Squirmy" I guess.
They're considered the perfect beginner snake just because they never get that big, but that's bullshit, Ball Pythons are the perfect beginner snake. They get as long as a Corn Snake, just fatter, but not finicky.
Idk. I guess it's wrong to say there's no aggressive snake, because Rainbow Boas are unpredictable, Green Anacondas are naturally aggressive, Reticulated Pythons have attitudes kinda. But I guess it'd be better to do it by species. There's definitely no such thing as an aggressive Ball Python or Red Tail Boa. But yet again, ANY snake can be tame with patience, 'cause as I said, they act purely on instinct, not because "He's pissing me off so Im'ma bite him.". Most snake bites are because 1: They still smell a Mouse or Rat on your hand after feeding, or 2: he's about to shed, and can't see at all, they get easily terrified because they're momentarily blind for a few days, and are more prone to bite because of that. Also, most bites happen while taking them out of the cage, VERY rarely when they're out of it. So I take my snake out with a Drumstick since I don't have a Snake hook. You're literally like a tree to a snake, when you're handling them, they're trying to find the warmest spot, which is why they coil around arms....veins = Blood = Warmth. They don't have feelings really. Dogs can experience happiness or sadness. Snakes can't really. But this doesn't go for all Reptiles. Since Lizards, like Bearded Dragons, can grow very attached to their owners.
Changed my mind, and this is the next snake I'll be getting. Picking him up next week. (The one pictured isn't the exact one I'm getting, but the same species.)
Uh Erik wouldnt the fact that a snake cant have compassion make it more dangerous?
You are saying there are no agressive snakes. I dont believe that. People are a lot fucking bigger than snakes. Out of instinct, wouldnt a snake be prone to biting someone out of fear or self defense?

They don't grow trust like dogs do, yet they still have a, for the lack of a better word, personality. My first one was an absolute asshole.

It's called an Irian Jaya Carpet Python.

His mouth and face were pretty bloody and I think he might have a broken leg.
