The eighties were a decade of over produced shit with a little good music mixed in. Some artists like elvis cosetllo, u2, the specials, dire straits, metallica, exodus, slayer were good but for the most part it was run by shitty synth pop and hair metal. The list 0f great 90's cd's is absolutely huge and i think could at least compare to the 70's.
I hate Cobain because he was a hypocrite. He stood for this "movement" and supposedly hated fame and all this bullshit. Then why did he sign a record deal? Thats like me saying I would hate being famous then going and agreeing to star in a summer blockbuster film. No one put a gun to his head and said "you have to be famous and make records for this multi million dollar label or you die"
Cobain is not a hypocrite. Cobain loved music and his popularity and fame got out of hand due to the times and the situation he was in. Yeah he signed a record contract, big deal. so did every other grunge band of the time. I dont think he understood the implications of what he doing fully. Cobain loved music and his influences were some of the best artists of the twentieth century. he understood what it what it meant to be a musician and what music was truly meant for.
