It wasn't that great but they were the most popular of a genre that was a huge part of the 90's. I can hardly listen to Nirvana anymore and not get sick of it because of how much they still play all of it on the radio >_<
I also disagree with that, all three albums they put out were superb, the last two masterpieces imo. Whether they're played to hell on the radio or not has nothing to do with the fact that it was damn good.
we are just gonna have to agree to disagree on this cuz i think nirvana was the weakest of the grunge bands. hell id even consider some of the alternative bands of that time (faith no more, RATM, etc) before i would choose nirvana
from 1990 to like 1996 was the best era of music since the late 60's. Yes nu metal brought in an era of shit but that didnt really start gaining popularity until the late 1990's. In the early 90's bands like soungarden, stp, alice in chains, counting crows, sublime, rancid, green day, no doubt, pearl jam etc were all in their prime. also the 90's death metal seen was going and bands like sepultura and pantera were giving us their best stuff. even old artists like tom waits and johnny cash and steve earle were coming back with some of the best stuff of their career. it wasnt the prime of thrash but so what? thrash hasnt been good since the eighties cuz its the same old formula and frankly i would take the music of the nineties over any thrash metal...

Then I just decided to read the entire paragraph. That helped.

I'd call that shitty. Was there good bands? Yes, but there was a lot of shit.
Tbh I wasn't even thinking about death metal.
