The Cubs have a lineup comparable to the '95 Indians with last year's Cy Young winner, rotation depth, bullpen depth and one of the most lights-out closers to ever take the mound. There's nobody out there like last year's Mets team with starting pitcher fire-power enough to stop that lineup. The Cubs remind me of the '86 Mets
I guess considering that, you do have a point. You guys had Verlander and Scherzer together at peak with the greatest hitter of our generation and still couldn't win
Our best team of the Dombrowski era didn't even make it to the World Series. We had the three previous Cy Young winners in our rotation in 2014 and got swept out of the first round. The best team doesn't always win in the postseason. You can't tell me those Giants and Cardinals championship teams were even close to the most talented teams those seasons. The 2006 Cardinals in particular should have been nowhere near the World Series.
Oh there's no doubt it did. Sitting for a week is something baseball players never have to do during the season. They're creatures of habit that hate having their routines changed.
