At this point, I'm leery of another Cox protege. Not only was Fredi one, but aside from Ned Yost most of them have sustained little success when hired by other teams. And from what I see, Yost is successful in spite of himself. But honestly, I think this year and next year are pretty much a wash. There's not enough talent at the major league level to properly evaluate any manager.

I think deep down a lot of people really want Chipper Jones to manage. Now that LaRoche is retired, he could be the bench coach.

Rex is mad cuz his Tigers have about $100 million more in payroll than the Braves, but only 6 more wins

Give it another month and it will be Rex and Jay boring us with debate on who should replace Ausmus

Nah im not worried about the tigers. I don't really like ausmus that much but the players are behind him so its whatever. They have a good lineup and haven't even played the white sox yet so im not concerned about our current record.

for the record though we have 7 more wins which is almost double the amount of wins you currently have.  3 games under .500 and 6 out > 20 games under  and 13.5 out.

Firing Ausmus isn't going to change anything this season. If they do go that way they'll just promote McClendon. Our starting rotation past Verlander and Zimmermann determines whether we sink or swim. Fulmer, Norris, and Boyd have shown some promise as starters but they're not ready yet.

I don't mind him that much. I'm definitely not in favor of any mid season loves though. I do t really see how a .500 start through 44 games is surprising. Pretty much every guy on our team is a warm weather hitter, and that is showing of late. Our lineup is going t be tough to get through from here on out.were 4 games back and haven't even played the white sox yet. I'm not worried at all.

How would getting rid of Ausmus fix the fact that we have only two reliable starters in our rotation? Most of the blame falls on Dombrowski and Ilitch.

I still don't get the pelfrey signing. He somehow always gets signed for like 8 million a year just to serve up bombs where ever he goes.

Yeah, man. He's sucked ever since he was with the Mets. I still don't get that signing at all.

Yeah it's dumb but whatever. We have 3-4 young guns in the minors and hopefully 1-2 will be ready soonish.

It was a budget signing after splurging to get Zimmermann. At the time, Avila was trying to stay under the luxury tax. Ilitch later changed his mind and said screw it, go get Upton. That's why a good portion of the problems are on ownership. If Avila had the green light from the start, maybe we go after someone like Leake or Samardzija. Even so there was no reason to give Pelfrey more than a one-year deal.

I wouldn't have paid the guy the nfl minimum.

The only thing the Tigers did that made me scratch my head was the Pelfrey deal. No way that bum is worth $8mil a year
    Called it in January

That's what starting pitchers of his caliber make on the market these days. Fister was awful last year and got 7 million. Rich Hill hasn't been a starter since 2007 and he got 6 million. The only issue with the deal was the second year.

A lot of the bitching about the Braves rebuild has kinda subsided lately because of Upton, Miller, Simmons, Wood, Avilan and Heyward are all having shitty years so far. It would help if Olivera and Markakis didn't suck though
