We always have to lose in the worst fucking way possible. Worse than 2006 imo. Better team, better staff, better players than that 2006 team and none of it mattered.
I'd still take this over not making the playoffs because not making the playoffs would have gotten Leyland fired.....and that would have been a horrible decision. Still, once you get to the World Series, the expectation is to win.

One look at the rotation should give you that answer. It was very hard to hit them in the playoffs. Other than Verlander, they kept it going in the World Series, albeit to a slightly lesser extent. They just lacked the clutch hit, which had been coming and going all year. That's about the difference between barely winning the division and running away with it like they did last year.
