Nola, have you even listened to Dark Side in its entirety?
Just because they're experimental doesn't mean they don't put their heart and emotion into all of it. They've got some of the most powerful and emotional music ever written, which is why they have such a huge appeal, to me at least. Really, everyone can relate to Dark Side of the Moon, and the theme is delivered in the most effective music and lyrics they could have written. Also, without experimental bands like Floyd, music would get nowhere. It's like comparing The Beatles to the Rolling Stones. Sure, the Rolling Stones had some great straight ahead rock and roll, but they would always try to imitate the experimental sounds The Beatles brought forward with each new album, and they'd always fall short.
That last part makes it seem like I'm accusing Springsteen of ripping Floyd off, which I'm not. I'm just saying that Floyd put all their soul into what they'd write, and their experimentalism and pioneering of their own style allowed them to convey exactly what they were trying to, and end up with an ultra powerful album each time.
i listened to it a little but it would never change the fact that springsteen is better. Springsteen is the epitome of rock n roll music. he put his heart and soul in every track and was one of the hardest workers in the music industry. he surrounded himself with the most talented band that had ever graced rock n roll. he is straight to the point and speaks very truthful while also adding a layer of fantasy and sentimentalism. Give me music that goes straight to the boneinstead of over elaborate experimentalism any day.
^^^ this. I love his lyrics. Great stuff. 41 shots
