"I would have made the same choice, Lamb Of God is amazing and Vader sounds like any other death metal band just about." Not even close. And Lamb of God aren't really unique with their generic groove/metalcore riffs.

This whole statement is false. I love when people say generic groove metal. Who are all these groove metal bands I can name like 4. Lamb of god definetely is more unique to their genre than vader is to theirs, seriously...
Despite how many "groove" metal bands there are, the riffs are uninspired and dull, and are just being backed by powerchords. Bands like Lamb of God are pretty much metalcore though. Vader, however, vary their riffs, style, and differ much from other death metal by actually creating a sort of feeling and atmosphere with their music, instead of just chugging and blast beats (although vader blasts a ton, it is rarely dull, and adds to intensity of the song.) So, by generic groove metal, I mean the riffs have all been done before, and are just cheap tracks with an all too familiar formula and structure.
I disagree, I think the sound is unique and has maybe became more polished over time to the mediocre side, but in As the palaces burn i hear alot of original stuff that i dont hear in many other "groove metal" bands. Take Vigil and 11th hour. what else does that sound like? I dont hear any metalcore bands that sound like that. Lamb of god also stay away from breakdowns which is another plus. i definetely sense a uniqueness in this band and always had.

I don't think the sound is unique, but I like it. I think Lamb of God are just fun, but if they dropped the whole we're tougher than you image, I'd like them much more.
Well, they're really preachy and annoyingly political. And, Nola, maybe those songs are unique (even though the second and fast half of vigil repeats that riff that has been generic since Leather Rebel, but the fact is, after about a year of listening to Lamb of God, I got incredibly bored with them, and now I don't like them. They are worn out. Also, judging by your choices in this thread, maybe you can't name a few more than five black metal and death metal bands anyhow, but don't take it the wrong way. Check out The Fathomless Mastery if you want some groovy death metal.

With you on this one.
"after about a year of listening to Lamb of God, I got incredibly bored with them"
Now that I think of it, I could be in the same boat. I haven't listened to them in months, and I don't really see myself becoming the same fan I used to be. I don't I'm necessarily bored with them (yet), but I just feel like there's so much better music out there I could be listening to, and I don't want to miss it.
I listened to them in 8th grade. Maybe it was a matter of me finding tons of new, better bands, but whenever I hear them, I don't find myself enjoying it. But because I used to listen to them:

Wrong, Vader sounds like 1000 other death metal bands, and they are boring as hell.
But because I used to listen to them:
