So I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite L855-S5171 running Windows 8. A few weeks ago it had a strange issue where upon startup the touchpad would freeze, and the pointer wouldn't move even after I plugged in a mouse. This wouldn't occur until after I logged in. The touchpad/mouse would work for as long as I wanted as long as I didn't log in and boot up my user profile. After a full virus scan came up clean I did a factory reset which fixed it.
A few days ago it happened again, and yet again the virus scans are coming up clean. Unfortunately I can't find a way to access Windows Settings in order to do a factory reset without a working mouse again, but if there's a way to fix this issue without doing that it would be preferable.
I already reset defaults in the Toshiba setup and it didn't fix it. I have an extended warranty but only for hardware issues.
definitely getting an ehd by the years end. that toshiba I got crashed (as in completely lost everything) three times in two years. this new asus has been great so far.
Office Depot just introduced this new gay fucking thing employees have to do and carry around. It's called the Office Depot Associate Passport. What it is a stupid little book that has all these little spots for stamps, kind of like a passport, but it's for thing we know, shit like Cross-selling, signing people up for rewards and shit. It's really stupid and almost kind of degrading. It's like 'oh goody, little cashier boy knows how to sell a protection plan, he gets a little stamp on his card'. And the reason they pass it out is even worse it was some bullshit like, "We want our associates to be proud of the work they do here at Office Depot". Fucking hate big retail corpo bullshit. Fuck
