My dad and bro worked on the PS3. Got it to boot up again. PS3 started turning off when running a disc based game (dl'd games ran fine). I say, "hey go it apart again, maybe the disc drive isn't connected completely". My bro, "nah I'll just keep trying it".... yellow lights again.
Not unless I can turn on the PS3 no. The PS3 HDD formats to the specific PS3 its coupled with. If I was to take it out and put it in another PS3, it would need to reformat and all would be lost. And to transfer it to another HDD would require the original PS3 to turn on.
I don't know if putting it into a laptop and running the laptop on CD and then transferring to USB works though.

Looks like I'm going to have to break down and get a new one. Fucking pissed that I'm going to lose all my save data. So many wasted hours...
