I'm in Shanghai right now! It's after midnight here, and those flights were aaawwwful. But I'm in China and don't have to get on a plane for another two weeks!
Cool! What are you doing there?
It's pretty much the same trip as last year. We are at Taizhou University in Linhai City in the Zhejiang province. WE got to the university last night (or yesterday morning US time) and met the new students as well as two of the ones from last year, and we went out for tea. This morning we are touring around and such.
A word of advice If it looks like cat It probably is
The demand for dog meat is high in China. They treat the dogs like garbage, cramp too many in one shitty crate and kill/sell them as needed. Multiple places on the net are putting major effort into providing awareness and trying to stop it
Holy cow. Today has been absolutely amazing. We toured the campus this morning, went out for lunch/tea in the city, and then we took the bus to KTV, a huge karaoke club...very very popular in China. We drank a lot while we were there...beer, whiskey, vodka and orange juice, compliments of our teachers. The male teacher made the comment at one point that he was "drunk as balls," and we all just lost it. Everyone sang awesome drunk karaoke (I sang Home Sweet Home and Bitch, and we did a group rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody to finish up), and then we walked back to the bus and came back to campus. We ended up getting dinner from a street vendor--had some sort of "spicy chicken egg pancake" wrap thing, which was AWESOME!
As we were coming back on campus, we met Lucy, Jackie, and William, 3 of the students we were with last year, and then we went with them to English Corner to talk to the Chinese students to help them practice their English. There, we met tons of other students and the foreign language teachers (English teachers) here on campus. One of the teachers was like 24, named Jordan from Arkansas...and I asked him how he liked teaching here, and he said he loved it. It's definitely something I've considered doing since my first trip...just coming here to teach for a year after I graduate from college. The foreign teachers get paid pretty well, and all of their housing and such is furnished by the school.
Anywho, today has been amazing, and I don't want it to end. I really hope we get to go back to KTV before we leave because it was so much fun! I'm very upset that we don't have anything like that in America. haha

two good things happened in the past hour. went to my new doctor who is ten times more chill than my old one, and filled my sleep prescription request for the first time in well over a year. now I can take a pill each night and be out in 30 minutes flat rather than staying up until 5am.
also went past that house, and it is indeed up for rent, unoccupied, locked, and looks exactly as described, at least from the outside. im going to call the guy up and see if I can schedule a brief tour and get the total payment squared away soon.

Was it a sausage dog?
A hot dog?
I'm disgusted and yet laughing hysterically at the same time
