My dog is in a lot of pain and the vets are pretty sure its a neck issue. Yesterday it seemed he was getting better but today hes walking with a limp and wont even take a piece of chicken that has a pain pill for him in it. I'm so fucking stressed out right now. He's already had a back surgery a few years ago. I'm trying to come to terms that another multiple thousand dollar surgery just is not in the cards for him. So this needs to get better real fucking soon because I cannot stand to see him in pain. As much as I absolutely hate and dread this idea but i'm wondering if its for the best to put him down.
Myself and my family have so much other shit on top of this were dealing with... were all fucking wrecks right now.

my dog suffered the EXACT same thing and the vet made a good point when your neck hurts, you dont only feel it in your neck you get it in your back, head, arms [or legs in dogs] etc they put my dog on steroids and she was better in about a week if there are no other signs of illness then i think that it might be the same thing feed him a bland diet of chicken and rice and make sure he walks as minimal as possible was there a fall or any kind of trauma?

I appreciate the advice. My grandmother said that a few days ago she was walking him and he saw another dog and pulled on the leash extremely hard to the point it was choking him around the neck and ever since that night he was acting different. But to be honest he plays rough he takes a ball and lays on his back a lot and shakes it... so it could be a few different things.
Hes about 9 years old Dachshund. Like I said, I know his breed is very prone to these types of things happening. Right now my grandparents have actually brought him to the place where he had his first surgery to see what they think. They'll be able to tell if he has a ruptured disk in his neck and if they think it will require surgery. I told them I would not ask for them to cover another surgery for him again. But my grandmother loves this dog as much as I do so if thats what it takes she will probably have it done.

might be a slipped or herniated [sp?] disk
This kind of shit makes me sick. I'm glad the parents are no doubt going to face jail time.
