Looked up their lyrics and it doesn't seem so. The only two religions I see preached in metal lyrics on a large scale are Christianity and Satanism. And like Satan said, most of the Satanic stuff is tongue in cheek. But a few are legit.
it's not a death sentence afaic to be a dipshit, but if I know an artist is it makes it a lot harder for me to like or even pay attention to their music. some things are just unforgivable, but they're few and far between. white metal immediately comes to mind. christian people shouldn't even try to play that type of music. i'm usually gonna ignore any music that's based around christianity. there are exceptions. johnny cash comes to mind. it's hard though
what about other religious music though? I'm just curious as to your opinion on say Satanist, or Muslim bands.
Are there even any Muslim metal bands? If so, do inform me, but the only metal bands I know of that mention Islam in the music are anti-Islam black metal bands from Iraq
i was raised atheist, so religious music usually get a big thumbs down from me. the reason i will still listen to satanic music is because i believe most of it to be tongue in cheek in its approach. actually, if i know someone is a practicing satanist, i tend to have the same feelings towards them as i do with christians. i think religion is just plain stupid in any form. there are some things that just shouldn't mix at all. i feel like using subversive music to promote mainstream ideals is wack as fuck. i've always hated seeing christian metal and punk bands. both genres were borne of an initial need to reject the trappings of mainstream culture and there's nothing more mainstream in our culture than christianity. i guess i wouldn't be much friendlier towards other religions as well, but you don't really see much jewish or muslim metal.
and on slap's post, the only one i can think of that even comes close is melechesh
>Female crying on my shoulder about her dude on Facebook right now. >Lol ain't nobody got time fo' dat. >Just talking so much shit and trashing the fuck out this nigga. >She's eating it up.
not all metal heads but it seems like at least 80 percent are that way.. therefore that crosses the nola threshhold of "im allowed to stereotype this now"
Do you have data to back up those stats? Cuz it kinda looks to me like you just made up some facts to support an uninformed opinion you already have of other people.
Well I know they practice the religion, but do they preach it in their lyrics?
Naw. It's mostly about the war over there and struggles they went through. I am wondering what their new album would be like since they left there and have found some fame.

Although the most intimidating band member I've ever met was Glenn Benton, met him at an Obituary show here a couple years ago.
