Sorta. Not because what the dude said though (although it is wrongs. It was an asshole thing to say.)

But because Im someone who believes hate towards a band should be warranted toward their shitty music, not a members shitty opinion.

I didn't know who they were beforehand. I listened to their music today and it was shitty. Thus, I don't mind expressing my negative opinion about them.

I agree with your point. I still love Megadeth despite my hatred for Dave Mustaine.

Well their music is pretty shitty ....

An example, I've never listened to the early Escape the Fate or any Falling In Reverse on CD but i refuse to because i won't support someone like Ronnie Radke.

I met the FT guys because my friend Brad interviewed Matty and the guitarist, they seemed like cool dudes but they are extremely judgmental and Matty is a huge hypocrite, that alone will make me not want to listen to a band, their awful music just adds to it.

I completely disagree. Music is a community. Why would you want to support an asshole? When I become a fan of a band, its obviously for the music, but the personality of a band is a factor as well. When I meet a band and theyre cool as fuck, I like them a lot more because of it. Its human nature. On the same token, if a band member is an asshole or says something radical that offends me, fuck no I'm not going to support them.

This For Today asshole was given a platform when he became famous. Instead of using it to do some good in the world, he's pushing his bullshit christian agenda. Being a musician is his job. If he says retarded shit, the consequence is the public trashing him. I can't go into my job and yell "BEING GAY IS A SIN!" Why should he?

I mean I guess I can see what you're saying. In fact I can care less about people bashing him personally, and what he said. I mean more or less about listening to a band.

I decide what I listen to based on the quality of music, not the personal demeanor of the artist. Two best cases being Mustaine and Vikernes. Mustaine's bullshit crack conspiracy theories are beyond stupid, but I still think he's a good guitarist and still really enjoy Megadeth. And I still can enjoy Burzum and old Mayhem even though Varg is a bigoted, racist, scumbag, neo-nazi, chud. I may not like him personally, but I still enjoy his music.

If the members of a band are cool, its an added bonus and I like them more as a result, but I wouldn't rule out a bands music just because of an asshole member. (Although I don't like For Today either way, so whatever).

totally agree.. sometimes bands are so good that you gotta just turn a blind eye sometimes lol.. its like if a faggot is on your fav sports team.. you dont really wanna root for him but what are ya gonna do? it def affects how i view the band tho. and for the record Mustaine is a giant faggot and megadeth is overrated

So if you don't agree with a person's personal beliefs you can't enjoy the art they've created? I didn't realize that was even a factor in somebody's enjoyment of something.

For example, one of my all time favorite movies is Gladiator. I'm not going to change that because Russell Crowe is a cunt.

idk because i think music is more personable than movies.. movies are expressing a persons or group of persons personal feeling.. its harder for me to get on the same level as a band if their douchebags mos def.. tho unlike u people i actually pay attention to lyrics and try and connect to artists.. its hard to do that when their singing about aliens and what not

say what you want but i think i listen to music differently than alot of people on here.. call it hipster elitist whatever but i think its true
  • XenoXeno Posts: 21,178 master of ceremonies
Well I'd like to know what you mean by that because I pay attention to lyrics and it often creates a connection with the music that otherwise wouldn't be there. It's just not the sole thing I look for in music.

what i mean by that is most the people on here are metal heads and i think metal for the most part doesnt really accomplish that.. i like to use the movie metaphor.. i can like movies like poltergeist or the shinning but i dont watch the movies to move me or change me as a person.. there are def movies out there that are much more personable and make you think.. that doesnt mean poltergeist is bad but its different.. but i think the metal community just watches poltergeist movies and not the other types ( in the music world) does that makes sense? lol

for instance megadeth with be a poltergeist movie and bob dylan would be like a shindlers list or something
