Problem is that different people are motivated in different ways Popsicle. Some people respond well to abuse and yelling and screaming like boot camp "come on you lazy bastard 10 more reps push it out" Other people respond better to being gently pushed along and complimented. Not everyone reacts in the same way. Someone yells and screams at me and ridicules me, I'm likely to tell them to fuck off
Yea, and it's not like I'd sit there "COME ON, ONE MORE REP YOU FAT MOTHERFUCKER.", but I'd be the same way, say someone wanted to quit on me in the middle of a workout, or cancel me as their trainer 'cause they couldn't take the work anymore, I'd be very similar, "Stay fat then. Remain the same person that you hate and wanted to change. Be a coward and give up.". I'd be harsh, but I guarantee you, if that person wanted to change enough, that those same harsh words would piss them off enough to motivate them to keep on going, and they'd love me at the end for beating them up. It doesn't take a full abusive verbal assault to get to someone.
Take me, for example, it took someone finally calling me fat IRL and looking at myself in the mirror, being disgusted, and breaking down crying, before I finally decided to go all in and finally make a change after countless off/on bouts of working out for a week and then quitting. You ain't gonna truly make a change until you're finally and genuinely uncomfortable. That's why the over-the-top friendliness that some trainers do never make their clients stick to it. They're too nice and leave the client comfortable. They're not even slightly hard on them. That's why I love seeing angry ass coaches in sports like Tom Thibadeau. That harshness pisses the players off, him getting in their face and prolly cursing them out makes them wanna sneak his jaw, but I guarantee you, at the end of the day, it makes them go harder just to prove his bitch ass wrong, and they fucking admire that man regardless.
I remember, when I first started Insanity, I beat myself up and gave myself some self hate to keep going, it was during the first 2-3 weeks, I was gonna quit one of the workouts, I was going to eject the disk, and I literally out loud said "You gonna be this much of a fucking bitch ass coward and quit? Are you that weak? Are you gonna keep being the same lazy fat piece of shit that you've grown to hate?". And that's all it fucking took. I rewinded the video to where I left off, and finished all of it. I felt like I wanted to die, but I'd take that physical strain over mental regret and weakness any fucking day of my life.

People spend entire careers trying to figure out how to motivate people, it's not very simple.
One thing that never works is blind aggression. Always creates a "me vs. you" dynamic, and when it's something like fitness, people will take the easier way and anger the aggressor than the hard way and still have the aggressor angry.
Lol at Leah's bitch ass disliking that post. Wouldn't expect any less from the laziest piece of scum on here doe. Jelly of hard work and success.
Unless you change your personality Popsicle I think you'd struggle as a personal trainer. You're motivated and driven but you currently lack any tolerance for anyone who doesnt have the same drive and desires as you. I doubt you would cope with large/fat Or lazy people and doubt you would succeed in training them unless they conformed with your demands
Also, believe it or not, I try and be helpful at the gym already, fat or not. One kid was squatting, and at the bottom of the squat, was completely on his toes, and had no weight on his heels, they were completely off the ground, and having dealt wit knee injuries due to my past incorrect squat form, I didn't want him to do the same, 'cause I don't wanna see any athlete suffer an injury, I know how much it blows, especially when your sport is such a huge part of your life. Even athletes I hate wit a passion, like LeBron James, I wouldn't wish an injury on. Luckily, none of my injuries have been major, and the longest I been laid off was 2 weeks, and even at that, it was just no arm training for 2 weeks, I trained everything else no problem.
Anyways, he was squatting wit terrible form, and I walked up to him, and was like "Yo, it's not really my business, but I noticed your squat form is really bad, you're lifting your heels completely off the ground and putting all the weight on your toes, when the weight is supposed to be on your heels, you should stay flat footed. That's a blown out or tore knee waiting to happen. I just got over a knee injury from bad squat form, I'd hate to see the same happen to you.", and he was like "Oh, thanks, I didn't even really notice it. Maybe you could show me a few correct reps?", and I did just that, and he appreciated it and asked me a few times during his set to check his form. But then you'll get salty ass motherfuckers that won't listen. There was a stubborn fatfuck just last week Deadlifting 2 plates, and his form was making my spine snap just watching him, he didn't bend at the knees at all, and arched his back all the way over like the fucking McDonald's logo. He was literally just bending all the way down at the hips, back completely arched, and carelessly lifting the bar, doing it fast as shit too, wit absolutely no control. So, I walked up to him, and was like "Yo, your form is making MY back hurt man, you should be bending at the knees and keeping your chest up so that your back curves inward and can't arch. You're completely arching over and not bending your knees at all. I don't say this to hate, but that's an injury waiting to happen, you're gonna destroy your back, especially at the weight you're lifting.". And he immediately got snappy and was like "What? You saying I don't know how to do it? Mind your own fucking business, I been doing it like this forever and I'm fine.", all I said was "Fine, enjoy being laid off from the gym for 6 months when you receive your inevitable injury.", and walked away. The motherfuckers that truly want it will listen.

So fucking stupid.
