Because we weren't free-sparring.... They were learning an advanced throw, that they were NOT ready for. Fuckin' Uchi Mata.... They kept kicking me instead throwing me over, because they had no lift.... They would either hit my knee with their shin, or they'd hit my calf with their heel.... ]:<
What makes that so advanced? It seems like a pretty standard toss as far as the basic mechanics of it, although I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Judo.
With a basic throw, you get your hips directly in front of the other person, totally lined up. But with Uchi Mata, youy hips come in to the side, and then you have to be able to lift them while kicking one leg back, throwing them over. But it's really not easy to keep balance on one foot, while sideways, with your other foot swinging back. And the problem with white belts is they barely even have balance for basic throws, where you plant both feet directly in front of the person. Once you master the Uchi Mata though, it's extremely effective.
Oic. I know Judo 101 is to off balance them, pull them over your hip, and that swinging the leg above the knee area is the crucial part, but that is about the extent of my judo knowledge. I'm going to to back and watch it a few more times.
Also, I reward with with one of my favorite striking techniques... The casting punch, Fedor style. So
Some of the reasons I like it so much is because of the way it swings around, it it deceptive to block. and the timing is a split second off of what you expect it to be, and hits outside of where a straight punch would. It is how beautiful for closing distance and sets up the clinch (or a judo toss?) It feels weird as fuck to lead with the shoulder and have the elbow up though. Dont break your hand though.

My first thought before I even opened the article was "Per would be a great fit."
They list him as #2. Only issue is that he lives in SWE.
