I need better examples than that though IMO whitechapel could be death metal if they didn't do all those breakdowns but I know there has to be more to it than that so idk......
Deathcore is always over polished with often triggered drums, and overly beefy guitars. Songwise it usually does not progress at all and well, it has crappy, dull riffs with often high pitched and more annoying vocals.
After VDOP though, Pantera went way more southern influenced. I love TGST most because Phil's heroin-induced screams are borderline black metal at parts
