Wife asked how much it was when I dropped the print off for framing. I told her "yeah I fucked that order up, I don't even want to talk about it lol, I'll tell you some other day. No custom frame next time."
Apparently her and a coworker spent today trying to price frames online. She guessed within $30 or so. (She guessed $300, it was $270) She thought her price was the full price though. She looked at me a little funny when I told her that's what it was after being discounted 70%. )
Gig posters can start around $50 and work there way up depending on the edition you get. Regular, rainbow foil, gold foil etc. Some artists doing the posters are more sought after and collectable than others. (Like Sperry the poop lady guy) Most of the Metallica, The Foo, QOTSA, and Primus posters ITT are $50 - $100.
Movie posters can get stupid expensive depending on what you want. Originals of Star Wars and other 80's movies can be worth a comma.

Do you buy more for the design, or the band attatched?
Could be either, but I probably wouldn't buy a band poster for a band I didn't like just because the art was cool. So far I only have band prints from shows I was at (Tool bugs, Tool VIP, A Black Sabbath The End Lithograph) We have 2 prints from Alex Grey's CoSM shop that my wife ordered, and then Her Highness (weed lady <-- the one I brought in for framing)
I will probably get a couple more at NI this weekend.
As far as picking them out, I just keep looking until I see something I really want. Eventually something will speak to me and catch my eye. Her Highness was an instant must have for me. I wanted this Metallica one but missed the foils and didn't want a regular print...

Depends on the poster, what it is, where it's for sale, and how bad I want it. I've only a few so far.
Good choice.

http://expressobeans.com is a good site for finding the value of some popular posters.
