She was white with a black eye. Now she is black with a white eye. Pack it up, the movie is ruined u guise.
Yea thats not the issue at all. She isnt just white. Shes abnormally inhuman white. They could have just cast a black chick and still done it, because she isnt just "white". If they really wanted to do it reverse, should have done like pitch black with a white eye, because that would literally be the reverse. Not flesh tone black with a weird skin deformity. Like I said, it looks like Barf from Spaceballs.
At the very least they could have played it up and done a Foxy Cleopatra/Blaxploitation direction with her character, but I highly doubt they will.
Either extreme may work in comics, but there is more to consider when making a movie. You want things to look natural. The actors need to emote still. The eyes are very expressive. You loose too much with very dark or very bright makeup. I'm sure they did a shit load of make up and camera tests and went with what they thought worked the best.
They also had consistent and symmetrical make up. Blacking out just one eye, or the reverse, just looks stupid and makes a person look like a panda. It just doesn't work well.
I like it. It looks more reality based that a straight to the screen exact comic adaption. I've read the comics already. I don't need them to regurgitate them for me page for page. I'm OK with them existing in different formats and not being identical. The creator of the Domino character was OK with it.
Feel free to vote with your dollar and stay home. We know you don't adapt to change very well.
Anybody abnormally white is going to look like Gilbert Grape on film. It's not a good look. Also, movie tattoos already look fake as fuck as it is (looking at you Scourge) without sticking it directly on their fucking eye and then zooming in for a close up.
Those reasons are reason enough alone for the on screen change, let alone all the positive role model crap for people with vitiligo etc.
