I'm really glad destination festivals like Psycho, Housecore, Black Sky, and Terrorfest are seeming to pop up around the country. Better bands and smaller venues.
The only advantage Mayhem could have over these small festivals is the big acts, but they waste those slots on shit like Korn and Disturbed so 0.
Yea no way it's a 100k are you fucking crazy lol they prob don't charge headliners as well
Of course they dont charge the headliners. But certainly the side stage bands. But do you guys not remember the days of Ozzfest? It was widely known that 75,000 was the magic number to get on Ozzfest.
Is it really hard to believe that 10-15 years later that number has risen?
The labels put up the money in exchange for exposure. That's why all the shitty "who the fuck is that?" bands usually have aggressive labels behind them, like King 810. They know chucking their garbage metal in front of bands people care about will still hook them a gang of Will Kriss no matter how shitty it is
Yeah, i can see the labels doing it for exposure. The way richie made it sound was like the bands were paying out of pocket though. Which didn't make any sense to me.

dude the labels pay for it. But you think they just do that shit for free? The band certainly owes them at least a portion of that money back.
So if a label puts on 4 bands on the side stages then they pay 400k for bands like all shall parish and rings of Saturn to be on? Idk that sounds crazy, I just do t see the turn around being worth it.. The bands barely even sell any CDs or anything .. They might sell 1400 copies or some shit.. How they making a return on their investment?

All Shall Perish's last album debuted with 8,400 sold. That basically covers the 100k right there in the first week.
Although i think the shitty label that puts 5 bands on every year and gets their own stage might get a discount. Thats just guessing though.
Whatever they are doing must work or else they'd probably stop doing it lol

Thinking about it, I remember Battlecross running a kickstarter to play at Mayhem a few years ago because they couldnt afford it.

Not saying its impossible. Just seems like a lot to me. The band isn't going to make 100,000 from the tour. Why would anyone do that?
