According to Style Weekly, Dave Brockie, better known as Oderus Urungus, the founder and lead singer of renowned metal band GWAR, has died. Roommates reportedly found Brockie's body at his home Sunday evening. "I wish it was a joke," former GWAR bassist Chris Bopst, a music writer for Style Weekly, tells the site. "Everyone is in shock." Brockie was 50 years old.
Brockie is not the first member of GWAR to die at an early age. GWAR guitarist Cory Smoot, who played the character of Flattus Maximus for over ten years, was discovered dead on the band's tour bus on November 3, 2011. He was 34 years old.
GWAR's latest album, "Battle Maximus", sold around 3,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 109 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD — the band's first full-length studio effort since the loss of Flattus Maximus — was issued on September 17, 2013 on Metal Blade Records.
GWAR's previous CD, 2010's "Bloody Pit Of Horror", opened with around 2,800 units — roughly half of the first-week tally registered by 2009's "Lust In Space", which premiered with 5,000 copies to land at No. 96.

FUCK NO
It hasn't been confirmed yet. Gwar is going to confirm whether the rumors are true or not soon.
I've seen a ton of posts about it. Pretty sure it's real.
That sucks.

There was not much to report on the cause of GWAR frontman Dave Brockie's death this weekend. He was found in his home by his roommate, and that's all we knew.
On Monday, TMZ reported that Brockie was found "sitting upright in his chair" and a law enforcement official told TMZ there "were no drugs found, as far as I know."
Well, it turns out he didn't know everything. Today, some new information surfaced from local Richmond news outlet, CBS 6, WTVR. The station spoke to law enforcement officials who said they are investigating the death as drug related based on what they found at Brockie's house at the time of his death. Ultimately, it is up to the Medical Examiner to decide and they are awaiting toxicology reports which take six weeks or more.
Should this be drug related, it would be an even more tragic end to the life and career of Dave Brockie, especially considering the fate of Corey Smoot, aka Flattus Maximus who died of a heart-related condition in 2011, which most believe was due to drug use.
Hopefully, this will serve as a wake up call to other musicians. Doing hard drugs will catch up with you.
