Aside from Enter Sandman, the black album isn't horrible, but I still don't jam it much. Wherever I May Roam, and Don't Tread on Me are the only ones I usually go out of my way to listen to.
the 'load' albums were a slap in the face to metal fans when they came out because so many of the thrash bands were either breaking up or going pop. i remember eagerly anticipating 'load', even pre-ordering it, then i got it home for the first time and almost threw up. they had a chance to really be the torchbearers for metal in the 90s and they turned their back on it instead. that's why people are so meh about them now. when i was 12-14 years old, nobody had a bad thing to say about metallica. they just had it like that...and they threw it away
