the new satans satyrs record is disappointing. much more clean cut/produced and far less raw than wild beyond belief. they almost completely subtracted that over-distorted tone from their music, and the singer sounds like he's trying out for a sabbath tribute band.
on the other end of the spectrum, the new have a nice life record is giving melting sun a run for its money.
"Sun is essentially a Rush record, a collection of considerable but ultimately esoteric delights destined to be appreciated by a niche audience. It’s like Moving Pictures without “Tom Sawyer.”"

I totally get the Metallica thing. I think George was drunk or something
Their career trajectory is somewhat similar (Mastodon's on a much smaller scale) people have been saying that since before CTS came out
The avg music press is gurgling and swallowing this new Mastodon
IT wouldn't suck so much if people weren't like "OMG THE MOTHERLOAD". One of the worst tracks on the fucking record.
Get ready for lots of lames on the Mastodong
sounds like ozzy.
it's been that way sine CTS tbh. All the prog nerds caught wind of em and latched on. Now it's the radio rock fags.
Next it'll be Erik
nah, Erik already digs CTS or at least used to or something
