Well I don't know of any specific hotels but if you're having trouble, I'm sure there are some good hotels in Southfield and Royal Oak. Nicer area than downtown and about a half hour from the park. I honestly don't know about the options downtown except for the Greektown Casino Hotel lol.

We pretty much ruled out downtown assuming it would be expensive. My dad was thinking Dearborn but Royal Oak's a pretty good idea too.

I stayed in a Holiday Inn express(I think) near Joe Louis Arena one time I recall it was actually pretty reasonable.
