Since Satan said rappers from 1990, I assumed he was talking about ones who were quite active in 1990 and had hits. If he said early 90's I would have posted much differently
Nas and Eminem weren't active until after 1990. Dre was active around 1984 and Jay was around 89
Dre's first solo album dropped in 92 Nas's was in 94 Eminems in 99 Jay-Z's in 96
> implying Dre wasnt in NWA for years before his solo album > implying these rappers didnt release EPs and mixtapes for years before their first official album > implying you didnt just wikipedia all this shit
I just posted solo albums. I know Dre was in NWA before his solo dropped but Satan said a specific year. But I guess I should have shoved a cock in my mouth instead. I'm such a stupid bitch
'Deep Cover'' came out in April of 92. That was most people's introduction to Snoop Dogg. I've made a successful argument in hip hop discussions before that Snoop Dogg is the first career rapper (inb4: Dre is mostly a producer), because he's largely stayed in the music field for his successes where most other rappers had to move to acting or fashion design to continue their success. Not that Snoop hasn't dabbled in those, but music stayed his breadwinner well into the 2000s. That just didn't happen in hip hop before. Dudes had their 15 minutes and usually moved on. Before Snoop, LL Cool J was the most accomplished rapper sales-wise of all time, but ever since '4,3,2,1' in '98 he's barely made a dent with his music and more people know him for shitty acting gigs than music now. Same for Ice T and Ice Cube. Wu-Tang dropped in '92 as well, but they've always been an underground phenomenon that didn't sell particularly well (sans Wu-Tang Forever obv). Jay-Z was around, but mostly as a hype man for Kane and ghostwriter. It wasn't like 'Reasonable Doubt' was the momumental release they'd have you think now. Jay didn't start selling records until 'Can I Get A...' came out in '98ish. 'Illmatic' was '93, but Nas is kinda like Wu-Tang in that he's got more recognition as a rapper from the underground that he ever had hits. Tupac was even beginning his transition to films when he died. Eminem...I'm not even sure why he got brought up. But yeah...
