catz is somewhat right. F8 is safe mode though. there's a few things you can try. first i would suggest turning off your computer then turn it back on and hold down F8 to start up in safe mode. from there windows should start up and go to the help section in windows and search "Startup Repair" or something like that. if you computer doesn't startup in safe mode then try starting it with your Operating System disc that came with your computer. just turn on your computer and put the disc in then restart you computer. if that doesn't work you may need to tell your computer to boot from CD or DVD. This means that you need to set the CD or DVD drive to be the first startup device in the basic input/output system (BIOS). Here's how:
Turn on your computer, insert the Windows installation disc, and then restart your computer.
Newer computers usually display a startup (or boot) menu. If it doesn't, you may have to hit F2 or F12. On the startup menu, select "BIOS setup," or "BIOS settings," or something similar.
Warning Updating the BIOS is an advanced procedure, and if an error occurs, your computer could stop working. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions exactly.
Note Procedures for updating the BIOS vary depending on the manufacturer. Check the information that came with your computer or go to the computer manufacturer's website. Each computer has its own startup (or boot) options and access to the BIOS setup. If your computer does not have a startup menu, look for a message that says "BIOS setup," "BIOS settings," or something similar, and then press the appropriate key when prompted to display the BIOS setup screen.
The BIOS setup screen appears. On the BIOS setup screen, select the option called "Boot order," or something similar.
Select your CD or DVD drive as the first startup device.
Restart your computer, and then start Windows from the installation CD or DVD as previously described.

as a last resort you could try reinstalling windows. this would wipe out everything on your computer though so if you can get your computer to start in safe mode, back up all the files you dont want to lose. everything that was already on your computer when you bought it can be loaded back in with the disks that came with your computer.

I had a problem like that with my current laptop. The operating system, and boot drivers, were corrupted so I had to do a complete system wipe and reinstall windows from cd set.
