We're sorry to announce that our brother, Jim Root, will not be performing with us at Mayhem today in San Bernardino due to serious health issues. Jim has been seriously sick for the past two weeks and went to the hospital last week where he was advised that his appendix burst a couple weeks before and that it could have been life threatening. Jim is at home recovering and is awaiting surgery to have pieces of his appendix removed and hopes to join the tour as soon as he is able. Slipknot will continue to headline the Mayhem Festival and all other shows. We refuse to let our fans down and will not miss a single date. We will miss Jim greatly and our thoughts are with him. Jim sends his love to each and every one of our fans.

This year is plagued with bad luck for Mayhem.
And yeah, my buddy got bit by one while he was working. He works as a lumberjack, cutting down trees and branches down and especially from power lines, and as soon as he noticed he got bit by something, he immediately had it checked out. Turns out he was bit by a Recluse, and the doctor told him he had no idea how lucky he is that he caught it that early. So nothing bad happened.
That shit is something you CANNOT let go unchecked. Otherwise, THIS will happen.
Or this
The "Rockstar Energry Drink Mayhem Festival" tour will start tomrrow in San Bernadino, CA. Check out the full touring schedule here. Obviously Jeff Hanneman will once again be replaced by Gary Holt of Exodus.
Jeff had to sit out all of the european dates this year due to an infection on his right arm caused by a spider bite in January 2011. Although not fully recovered he made a surprise appearance at the "Big 4" festival in Indio, CA on April 23rd 2011 where he played the last two songs of the set "South Of Heaven" and "Angel Of Death".
Not a bad replacement at all. Very nice.
And yeah, I know Gary can shred. Exodus is awesome. But I've only seen Slayer with Jeff so it should be a fresh experience.
This year is plagued by dropouts and health issues and replacements.
Got his necrotizing fasciitis the way everyone does. The needle.
