demonoid is like slightly better then The Pirate Bay in terms of safety. Personally I consider anything I dl from demonoid to be suspect of getting myself in trouble. If you download the latest blockbuster movie, or Justin Bieber CD, you should count on receiving a notice from the MPAA/RIAA. Will you? Probably not, but you should be careful. Download and as soon as you download delete the torrent from your client so you dont share back.

If on the other hand you are using Demonoid to download books, I'd be shocked if you ever received notice. Agencies trying to catch people pirating have limited resources and cant catch everyone... so What you do is hang out the most popular bait and try and net people who can't control themselves and must have the new Bieber.

Will your school care? I doubt it. They will however threaten to ban you if you start receiving multiple notices about downloading Bieber's new movie in HD. Basically schools dont care unless you give them a reason to care. the Reason would be taking all their bandwidth or making trouble for them by getting notices from MPAA/RIAA.

Personally I wasnt ever concerned about doing it at school. The schools tend to only really care if the MPAA/RIAA/etc care. And a private site like this where to get in you have to know someone that knows someone.... It isnt likely.
The MPAA/RIAA/etc is more concerned about low hanging fruit like The Pirate Bay. I wouldnt download anything from public trackers like that... Way too risky of getting caught, getting a virus, or both.

I agree, but the MPIAA and RIAA have both gone after Demonoid trackers before, even if it's infrequent. Bianca's ebooks won't get her into any trouble, but me downloading a shit ton could. They keep track of that stuff. With that said, I usually just go on the faculty WiFi now that my friend found out the passwords needed for it.

Yes I agree, however you shouldnt confuse a site like this, to one like Demonoid. Anyone could get an invite to Demonoid in less then 5 minutes of trying. Demonoid is very risky, especially for popular content (not bianca's ebooks). Sites like the tv site I was handing out invites for are significantly less risky. The admins/sysops are continually scanning for someone's who is not legit, and to get an invite to the site you have to know someone that is in and has good enough stats to hand out invites. It took me over a year to find someone who could get me in this site...

PM a gmail address you would like the invite to go too, and I will invite you the second it opens up. Typically to invite people you need to be of Master standing (Master = Been on site for 1 year, Have downloaded 7.5 TB of data, have downloaded 3000 torrents over 100MB, have an absurd number of bonus points). I become a Master in 5 months and will be able to invite anyone at anytime. There are ~100 masters total.

However sometimes they open up invites for Elite/Guru (that's where I am) for 12 hours like they did yesterday. Seems like this happens every couple of months. I am always on the site, so if they do open it up then I can invite you if I have your email address primed. Yesterday I ended up inviting 10 people, 4 of them had given me their email 2 months ago.

I leave them in MKV format... You can download a media player that plays MKV's.... Or most media players you buy will also play them. Like if you get an AppleTV2 you can jailbreak it to play MKV's... Or WD Live TV+ will play MKV's. I usually dont play videos from the computer, but if you google you could find a player that will.
