VIBER is great for free texting and pxts (worldwide) but often the free calls are on bad/weak lines
SHAZAM is great if you hear a song and don't know the artist or album it's off
IMDB is great for working out if a movie is any good or finding out the actors in a movie

Free Music Downloader - Self explainitory. But it has almost any song. Most phone apps have problems with certain metal bands.

Brewgene - Beer app. Rate beers, find info on others as well as breweries and shit. You can pin beers to a list of shit you wanna try. Its pretty cool.

Space traders - Pretty cool RPG game. Very in depth. You pretty much control a ship and can travel around as a military ship, trade ship, pirate, smuggler, etc. Its worth checking out. I've put like 10 hours into it already.
