The UP. Where people from down state Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois city folks go to get back to nature. And then they die. Then they have heart attacks in the woods, crash snowmobiles and ATV's, drown in rivers, fall though ice and drown while fishing etc, have hunting accidents and shoot each other etc. The missing people/accidental deaths are almost never someone actually from here, and the sheer number of them that happen are crazy.
Probably. I don't notice it but I was told by a forum member that I sounded Canadian on the phone, which was strange to me because Yoopers don't say "aboot" instead of about etc. Her opinion was invalid anyway as she had the New England "wicked pissah" accent anyway. I don't notice any over the top Fargo accents or the Wisconsin "oh yah hi derr" here but people from other areas would notice it more, especially of the place you live has their own goofy accent.

we dont say aboot in Canada and if we do its just playing up the stereotype. the newfies might but their odd people
well i dont say aboot and none of my friends say aboot. and i only seldom call someone a hoser
You wouldn't really notice if you did, it sounds normal to you. Go far enough away, and people think you said aboat. What sounds like outhouse to Canadians sounds like owethoose to us Americans.
Damn people gotta be so damn specific. The northeastern drawl is similar too, but not as pronounced as a Boston accent. The exact phrases may not be the same, but the way things are pronounced are similar.
Lighten up a little people. I don't feel like I should have to type out a paragraph of doom just to get a point across.
And if people WANT to get so damn specific, let's start with the fact that in this whole conversation, the word dialect should be used, not accent. Where the fuck are the grammar police?

I'm from RI and I've never heard a single person say that
although we do use "wicked" as a synonym for "very"
