TMZ is reporting retired NFL star Junior Seau is dead, and the police are investigating a shooting in his home:
NFL legend Junior Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside, CA ... and cops are investigating a shooting ... multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
Cops are currently at Seau's home just outside San Diego. Seau was 43-years-old ... and leaves behind 3 kids and an ex-wife.
Seau, a 12-time Pro Bowler and 6-time First-Team All-Pro, was selected fifth overall in the 1990 NFL draft after an outstanding collegiate career at USC. He played with the San Diego Chargers through the 2002 season, spent 2003-2005 with the Miami Dolphins, and then signed with the New England Patriots in time for the 2006 season. In New England's perfect regular season of 2007, he played in all 16 games and started four. Seau first retires after that season, only to come back and play in 2008 and 2009 before finally leaving the NFL for good.
"I'm going to go surf," he told Showtime upon his January, 2010 retirement announcement. Whatever happens, I can say, honestly say, that that probably was my last game."
Seau is the eighth member of the Chargers 1994 Super Bowl team to pass. We will keep you updated on this story as more news is confirmed.

According to the North County Times, Seau committed suicide. A San Diego television station, 10news, also reported it was a suicide.
A housekeeper found Junior Seau, dead in his home, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. Oceanside's mayor and Police Chief have both confirmed the reports of his death. He was 43 and is survived by his ex-wife and 3 children.
Seau's family has said he exhibited no signs of depression recently, and even sent text messages to his ex-wife and each of his 3 children with "love you" yesterday; they all responded and suspected nothing was wrong.
If you'll recall, back in October 2010, Seau drove his Cadillac Escalade off a Carlsbad cliff following an arrest for domestic violence. Many speculated then that Seau was attempting to commit suicide, even though he came out of the crash with only cuts and bruises.
Junior Seau was a 12-time Pro Bowler, and 6-time All-Pro. He played 13 seasons with the San Diego Chargers before being traded to the Miami Dolphins, where he spent 3 years and announced his retirement. He then un-retired to play 3 more seasons with the New England Patriots.
This marks the 8th member of the 1994 Chargers Super Bowl team to pass.
The San Diego Chargers front office is aware of the shooting, but do not know of anything further; they've said "we pray he's okay."
This is a developing story. We'll updated it as we get more information.
UPDATE: North County Times is reporting that it was a self-inflicted gunshot to the chest. This seems eerily similar to Dave Duerson's suicide, where he asked that his brain be studied and was found to have a brain disease(probably caused by repeated concussions during his NFL career).
I guess he shot himself in the chest so his brain could be examined.
