I'm getting married in 3 months and my stepdad raised me and has always been my role model and a father. I've had alot of issues and hurtful things done to me by my biological father and his shitty wife. I decided I want my wife and kids to have my "real" dad's last name.

dont get me wrong... its your life and you need to do what you think is fair to the people in your life.... but I'd probably try and have it out with my biological first and let him know where you are. no reason to burn bridges that dont need to be burnt.

Those bridges are burnt to the ground and have been burned further this past week. My brother was caught using drugs and drinking and I told my dad and my stepmom got mad at me, he stood up for her and said i was overreacting about it and they can handle it. The kid is still using drugs, then they wont let me talk to him and shit when all i'm tryna do is be a good influence on the kid. then i catch her lying to me and him covering it up. I told him i want her out of my life, i tell him all the reasons why and all he does is talk aboug god and religion and forgiveneess. how can I forgive people who wont even admit they a wrong and dont give a fuck about anyone but themselves? I havce dealt with him and her for years. he tried to have my amancipated when I was 14, my stepdad has always been the one there for me, taking me fishing, to ball games, paying my fines and schooling, ect.... i'm so done with my pathetic dad, i never want to be anything like him. idc if it hurts him, he didnt care if he hurt me. My brother is supposed to be my best man and my dad said today, you better find a new best man if my wife cant come to your wedding. hees making the choices, the ball is in his court. and he dropped it. it sickens me, but its what has to be done. alot has happened between us these last few weeks and it shows me that i am a thron in their side, so fuck them. i am lucky enough to have a dad who cares.

btw... i hate when people use god and jesus as a scapegoat for their actions. I dont need a false prophet to justify why I do the things I do. I dont need to belong to a religious group to be a good person. I try to live a decent life and do the right things for the right reasons, not to try and impress my church buddies. Religion is a scapegoat for insecurities.
