Meh, same shit, sitting here whoring myself out for a corperate wage lol. However, this year my oldest son will be hitting up Mayhem @ age 10. He has been to a tamer club shows, but this will be his first festival. I know you were the same age when you broke your fest cherry, so i was hoping you may have some insight from his perspective.

Thats awesome man. Let me know how he enjoys it \m/

My festival experience from then and now is essentially the same. Just teach him the obvious shit like keeping hydrated and eating big before the show. When or if he goes to these later on without you, it'll help. My face when at Mayhem 08 my girlfriend and 3 friends all were dehydrated and starving by Slipknot and I was on my seat headbanging B-) . The only thing I can really think of is to check out all the booths and freebie shit if you dont already, even the ones you think are dumb. My fondest memories from Ozzfest 01 other than the bands were downing as much free Yoohoo as I could and playing ps2 on the giant tvs. While we are used to the commercialism bullshit of festivals, to kids it can be pretty cool.

Also, you dont seem like a stand in line all day for an autograph type of guy, but I wouldnt waste your time with it. Chances are he doesnt give two shits about meeting bands. I remember me and my 2 brothers blowing off meeting Linkin Park (remember this is when they were the gods of every preteen in the world) to watch Mudvayne, a band we'd never heard of. We also met Disturbed, and David Dramain invited us to come eat some Barbeque with them, but my brothers and I protested because Union Underground was playing next. Your son might be different though.

I doubt he will be too pressed to meet the bands, we met Drowning Pool after a show at the fairgrounds. We got his shirt signed by C.J. and Ryan (drinker than all fuuuuck, imagine that lol) and he was kinda meh about it. I'm sure he will love the mulisha, but Scott Murry ( http://www.sickairfmx.com/ ) lives less than 20 minutes from us, and is insanely active in the local community, especially with kids, so unless they are hitting double backflips he is may not be impressed as much as another kid lol. We are also gonna bring his friend so he has someone his age to share the experience it with. I've already given them a rundown on what they can expect, that it will be all day, hot as fuck, and way too expensive. He has been busting his butt all summer on his paper route to save his money up for the midway. If we have enough time and money we may also hit 6 flags on the way, so its good he is getting a lesson in hard work and saving out of it.
