I think Metallica was the band that got me into metal along with Van Halen and Journey. I started listening to them when I was like 4...even though I didn't get to listen to much of any Metallica lol
Aerosmith and Godsmack got me into rock when I was like 6, Metallica and Disturbed got me into metal when I was like 11. I didn't get into heavier types of metal until I was 14.
I started into the heavier shit around 11 or 12. I had a range of stuff I bought including Static X, Kittie, Meshuggah, Old Mans Child, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, and Mariyn Manson
Avenged sevenfold started my search into harder stuff. I had been listening to hatebreed for years but it wasn't until waking the fallen that furthered my intrest. Thats when I started searching for faster and faster music and heavier beats. At the time I was listening to mostly punk before.

I got into heavier stuff when I was 14 due to Mayhem 2009. My friend brought me along, I had a lot of fun so afterwards I started listening to Bullet For My Valentine and Killswitch Engage, who got me used to guttural vocals. Since then I've been listening to a fustercluck of bands.
