I’m not a huge fan of their first couple of albums because they were being pushed at the time to sound like Nirvana. One of their albums was even produced by Steve Albini. But Fantastic Planet is awesome. It’s one of the best rock records of the 90s. It’s a shame that it didn’t really find much of an audience, but it’s kinda got the cult thing now where people that know it, LOVE IT. At one point, the band Cave-In dropped their hardcore sound to make an album in the mold of Fantastic Planet called Antenna. Troy Van Leeuwen from APC and Queens of the Stone Age started his career as a touring guitarist for Failure. Tool dusts them off to tour, but they’re still kind of nebulous. But you should definitely at least check out Fantastic Planet. Their reunion album The Heart is a Monster is an effective sequel, but Fantastic Planet is the album that maintains most of their interest

Did you catch their tour a year and a half or so back w/ Hum and Torche? They played most of FP.

wish failure wasn't the only band I've seen play this.
