Sometimes I think I am and then they rope me back in. I have to give them half year breaks every now and then but I think my brain is wired at this point to jizz over their music.
if this "gloomy ep" is really happening, Im interested. I peaked with mastodon years ago tho.
Well, yeah. I peaked with them long before I saw them live for the first time. Nothing will beat the days of listening to Crack The Skye on repeat in high school.
I agree with that but everything Mastodon did before The Hunter was nothing short of amazing. Yeah Hunter and OMRTS weren't up to par, but its not like they were horrible.
I seriously doubt theyre going back to the filthy, progressive goodness they had from the remission-cts. radio loves what they do now, and money talks (although I dont necessarily doubt that they got tired of playing that stuff anyway... things just sort of worked out in their favor I feel)
four great albums is a solid run though. thats way more than most bands have under their belts. no hating on mastodon here.
I really think metal as a whole is in kinda a lull right now, idk nothing super fresh coming out lotta rehash
well in all reality this is just guitar music in general. every indie rock band that's getting big is either doing 90s shoegaze/alt rock or 60's psych shit.

that became apparent with everybody attatching to deafheaven's teat. they have just enough originality to stand out right now. not judging, I'm one of those people
