Several of the threads here have given me an idea, and I want to run it by y00z fukkz and see if its something I should seriously consider implementing.
Thinking about threads like:
- The Official Bug Thread
- Detroit, Who's coming with me
- The Official Rules Thread
- Any Tournament Thread
One of the biggest issues is keeping track of the 'state' of the discussion. What I mean is, in the bug thread for example, people forget what bugs I already know about, so the same shit gets reported 5 times. It is annoying to page back to the first post and look at the list.
Same thing in Tournaments and any "listing" thread. You either have to maintain a running list, or re-post the same list over and over every few pages.
Would it be useful if the first post (basically, the original discussion itself) could be "detached" somehow, for certain threads, and appear at the top of every page (obviously with some kind of padding or other signifier to show that is it separate from the comments). This way we could refer back to the original post on any page of the thread, without paging around.
Or would this be really dumb.
there are some who call me... tim?

You already pointed out the types of threads it would be useful for, so I say go for it.
