I'd take any of the original bands any of the guys were from, especially King Crimson.

Wow, I looked it up and you are right, it is kind of like how The Firm ended up(although I like The Firm), when you take one part Led Zeppelin, one part Free/Bad Company, and two parts Uriah Heep/Manfred Mann's Earth Band you should get a really good prog rock band with a hard rock edge, instead you get two down tempo easy listening records(which aren't bad seriously)

To be honest I'm not huge into any of those bands, even Zeppelin haha.
But yeah, with Asia you'd expect some sort of incredible prog supergroup, but it turns out to be pretty standard cheesy 80s rock.

I don't care for Zeppelin either, but Jimmy Page is a great guitarist, add in Paul Rodgers and then the rhythm section for Uriah Heep/Manfred Mann and you have a lot of musical/songwriting talent at your disposal.
