I've had friends tell me that Skrillex is the best dubstep artist out there but I really don't see what makes him any different than the rest. To me it's all pretty simple music that would be pretty awesome to hear live, yet falls very flat when listening to it on your own.
The first time I listened to dubstep I was like "holy shit this is awesome!!" then after a while I just realized that it's just really simple and boring. I'd love to see a dubstep artist live though, that would be some fun.
Yet I guarantee you couldn't make your own Dubstep. That's not a shot at you either, because I couldn't do it myself. It's a formula like Turntables/Scratching, it needs your own personal flavor added to it.

I Like Wine said in the other thread you don't need to be able to do it yourself to know when something is bad. I'm not taking offense to that btw but I just haven't been able to notice any real differences in any dub artist's style. I'll listen to some more of it later and get back on this issue. Can't wait to see it live in just a few weeks though.
I can notice differences, but I guess it depends on the individual. A lot is similar, but the same can be said for many genres. Especially Death and Black Metal.

<_> GTFO. I only liked it 'cause Of Skrillex anyways, Sonny Moore is a fag, but Skrillex, Music wise, is still pretty sick.
