Ok, late as fuck, and I just saw the insanity that is "RATM is nu metal".....I will say that dozens of numetal acts tried in vain to capture the funk-laced ferocity that Rage so effortlessly spewed forth on every track, every album....RATM was an innovator in so many ways. I have read here in the past that Chicken Fucker hates them in part because they talk politics...More correctly Rage IS political....that is their foundation....if that is not your thing, then you won't like their message....Notice also that they released an album about every 5 years.....I feel this is because they waited until they had something new to "rage against", new issues to write about; they didn't just pump out generic nu metal garbage as quick as they could because their last single was a fuckin hit.... Furthermore, ALL the 'scratching', distortion, and other turntable hip hop inspired sounds and notes were made by Tom Morello's guitar....not a fuckin "DJ" like so many other lame ass metal acts....
Rage Against The Machine is not for everyone, and I have no problem with anyone who dislikes them....to each his own....
I do however take issue with the occasional individual who would cast them down into the tepid cesspool of mickey mouse Pretenda-Angsty west coast drivel that passed off as 'Metal', Nu or otherwise......
