you know any bands that sound similar to 36CF? besides ET? ..the meldoic hardcore with clean vocals like MC was talking about? after he asked me I could only think of 36CF, ET, and Ligeia... i know there's other, i just can't think....
The way I view it, hardcore has "strong meaningful lyrics" in the same way that death metal is "intense". Both may be true, but it's not really special to just that genre.
Oh and for the record, 36 Crazyfists is a friggin sweet band.
I never was trying to put down any other genre or anything... hardcore is definately not the only thing i listen to, i just grew up around it so it's part of me and I love it.

FTR i listen to all types of music genres... i dont hate on any genre, i hate on specific bands sometimes, but not genres, all genres have decent bands.

Hardcore to me has more heart than any other genre. It can be argued about any genre but that's just my feelings on it
