This made me LOL so hard
By Mike Johnson on 2011-02-10 14:12:20 In a story that sounds like a wrestling story, local authorities in Southgate, Michigan shut down an event promoted by The Insane Clown Posse's Juggalo Championship Wrestling last night at Modern Clothing, a club venue hosting the show.
JCW issued a press release last night regarding the shut-down (which we ran on our sister website, PWInsiderXTRA.com) but PWInsider.com confirmed with Southgate Police this afternoon that the shutdown was legitimate.
The shutdown took place during JCW's opening bout between the teams of "Richie Boy" Bryer Wellington & Butler Geeves vs. JCW champion Corporal Robinson & 2 Tuff Tony in what was to the start of a round robin tournament to crown new JCW Tag Team champions. As the match kicked off, 12-20 (depending on who you speak to), local authorities entered the venue, shut down the show and demanded the crowd disperse. While there were "f*** the police" chants, the crowd eventually left without incident.
The event, which advertised free beer for patrons over 21, was shut down due to concerns over underage fans drinking. There were "at least" eight instances of minors found to be drinking, according to Southgate Police Lieutenant Ed Sukel, who noted that there were citations issued over the situation.
The issue at hand was not only the underage drinking, but that the advertisement of free beer with admission was a violation of local laws.
JCW has already announced that fans can receive refunds from their point of purchase or by writing the promotion via their website at www.juggalowrestling.com.
