But at the same time, those top five were so mindblowing to me that it feels bad knowing that almost nothing will be able to take their place
That's kind of how I feel about my Top 5. But I think new Mastodon, Vektor, Cormorant, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Opeth will give 'em a run for their money.
alex, I searched but couldn't find this post a few weeks ago of an awesome post rock group....the youtube song of theirs that was linked was an album cover of sorts, and it looked like an old oil painting of Rome or Greece under siege.....any clue who they are.....
I disagree about the Devy album. It's a very dense album, probably a tad excessively so, and if you don't give it a lot of listens, you're not going to get a lot out of it. But it kicks major ass.
Yeah, I catch your drift on the first one. I've never thought of it like that.
that's why I said it sounded familiar.....It has a kind of familiar flourish to it.....I didn't make a Mastodong connection, but I agree with the comparison.... I have often thought the two bands share some similarities...
Haven't been able to listen to near as much as before work started up so it's coming along a bit slower but I promise I'll update my "most awesomest music of 2011" list soon!

You listen to those two videos I provided. I was refering to thems.
Listening to the second now.
The second one I couldn't get into as much as the first, but it still sounds like a very promising whole \m/
