i like festivals because of all the extra stuff other than the bands performing. plus you dont have to miss bands you want to see to take a break and if youre up front for bands you want to see its the same atmosphere as if you were in a club. the crowd goes crazy
Club shows. The club shows have more true "hardcore" fans. The setting is better and you're closer to the bands. Festivals are cool though because there's lots of people. More mosh pits (although for headliners at club shows there is usually a constant pit, at least for the death metal shows) Oh and festivals have free energy drinks so that's always a plus. Lots of free stuff.
festivals unless their like sarsfest was: 450 000 people and poor planning (not enough food/water vendors, not enough washrooms, people thinking they can lay on their fucking blankets and have a picnic)

True, but it comes with a price sometimes. Like at the Nile show back in November, this one fat native American girl just yelled "FUCKIN' NILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" the whole set. I wanted to punch her in the face two songs in.

sarsfest was in canada as a benefit when there was a bunch of us canucks dying from sars. lots of shitty shit with a few good bands (rolling stones, ac/dc, rush, the guess who)
It depends on the band. If it's, say, Metallica; I want to see them in an arena. Sure, you could be close up, but I like the circle stage setup and you can see everything. Otherwise, I prefer clubs. Our ampitheater sucks sound-wise, but it is a pretty cool experience to be outside and whatever.

festival shows give you a lot of bands. even if you dont like a couple bands, theres plenty to do. set are too short though
club shows, like the intimate setting, close to bands and longer sets. if you dont like an opening band, you have to suffer thru them
Bar/Clubs - Intimate setting
Cheaper Merch
Cheaper Beer
Cheaper and better food (depending on where u go)
Fests - Alot of bands for a pretty reasonable ticket price
Chicks in skimpy bikini tops and such
Tailgating at some venues
Arena - No real advantages honestly. High ticket prices, expensive merch, expensive beer, expensive parking
Bar/club shows for the obvious reasons.
Seen mostly all my favorite bands at clubs.
I hate arena shows.
