Not gonna happen unless they unload Datsyuk's contract. And even then, Toronto and Buffalo can offer more. I'm not getting my hopes up. They definitely need to move Datsyuk's contract regardless though.
Idk players dont really want to play for the coach that shal not be named up in toranto. Buffalo sucks too. Either way i dont see him taking the 8.5 that tampa is offering.
Toronto's about to get Auston Matthews in the draft who is going to be a stud. They just traded for a young goalie and signed him to a long-term deal. They have a ton of expiring contracts coming off the books in the next couple of years and plenty of young talent in the minors and on the big club. Buffalo has Eichel and a bunch of young talent as well. It's not hard to see the appeal of them against Detroit, who unfortunately has too much long-term money tied up in mediocre or badly declining talent (Zetterberg, Kronwall, Ericsson, Abdelkader). That's before you even get to the fact that Buffalo and Toronto can offer more money.
tl;dr I don't think Stamkos is coming here. I also don't think the Wings need to get him to successfully improve the team for next season.
Not like you can afford him anyway. He's probably the best pure goal scorer in the league next to Ovechkin.
I think he has peaked on is on a downswing as soon as he signs and rumor is Rangers are gonna get him. Prob. gonna lose Nash and Stepan which is stupid..Nash can go but Stepan needs to stay. I said the same thing about Haglin and look how he changed Pitts offense...They don't win without Haglin and his speed

Also Montreal and Edmonton gave away their best players for underwhelming value so I feel a little better.
